I have spent 25 years working in marketing, journalism, politics, communications and technology. I have built an international media contacts business in MediaHQ and advised and helped hundreds of brands on their storytelling.
Since 2008, I have worked as a consultant, trainer, and keynote speaker using my knowledge and experience of storytelling and communications to help others find their storytelling voice.
I’m passionate about creativity, curiosity and the power of storytelling to transform how organizations communicate. I am driven and have a high-energy positive attitude to solving problems. I believe that we are only limited by our own imaginations when it comes to solving problems.
I started my career in product marketing with Dubarry Shoes before retraining as a journalist. I quickly made the move to politics where I headed up the Press Office and Irish Political Party that served in Government. We performed well in two national elections and I moved to the role of political and media advisor in Government.
After five years I moved to the business world and set up my own corporate communications consultancy JMedia. I specialized in strategic advice to CEOs and senior communications teams. I won the best Corporate PR Campaign for the work I did with timber frame home manufacturer Century Homes before their €100 million acquisition by Kingspan.
In 2006, I acquired a printed media directory for Ireland and transformed it into MediaHQ - a dynamic online media contacts and press release distribution tool. We build software that helps PR and Communications professionals share their stories with the world. Every day we work with hundreds of organizations to help them tell their stories.
In 2016 I started the storytelling agency All Good Tales to help organizations develop their storytelling strategy.
My book The Magic Slice captures my ideas about how to maximize storytelling and a methodology for doing it that any organization can follow. It is very popular among entrepreneurs, marketing and communications people.
I live in Dublin, Ireland. I have two daughters, a wife and a dog called Maxi Lopez. I love riding my bike, swimming in cold water and walking.
